Job Title: Software Developer (Contract to hire)

Job Description:
We are looking for a curious and creative software technologist to join our client, the leading Virtual Patient Simulation application. Our engaging simulations seek to improve the knowledge, competence, patient safety, and performance of healthcare professionals globally. The Software Engineer will be a part of our app engineering team and will work closely with our UX/UI team and the broader development team to deliver rich, robust and user-friendly web applications (or innovations to the existing ones) and great user experiences to a global audience on all devices. This individual will be challenged with building the features that our global users interact with on a daily basis.
They will assist with tasks in our agile development sprints including:
• Implementing new features in our existing products
• Resolving presentational and functional bugs
• Refactoring existing code to align with best practices
• Ensuring the integrity of products using unit tests in different layers
• Guaranteeing cross-browser and cross-device compatibility
• Continually refining existing products based on user-centric metrics
• Spend 10-15% of time working (and sometimes lead) on new development projects with the various teams in the organization
Required Skills:
• Experience in agile software development
• 4+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (vanilla), as well as object-oriented programming languages of any kind (Java, PHP, Python, etc.)
• Intermediate to advance knowledge in ReactJS, JWT, and Node.js, proving to have worked at least on one big project that involved all these technologies
• Strong expertise of ES6 (ES 2015) standards, Browser API, Performance API
• Demonstrated experience using Git for version control
• Proficient with package managers and transpilers such as WebPack, Babel
• Knowledge of accessibility and web performance best practices
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems logically and systematically
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under tight deadlines
• Ability to translate/distill technical approaches to a non-technical audience
• Experience writing unit tests in any web language (Mocha-Chai, Jasmine, Jest, etc.)
The ideal candidate has:
• 3+ years of experience with SQL language in any engine (MySQL, SQLite, Maria DB, GraphQL, etc.)
• A published project portfolio with strong code samples (Git or other)
• Healthcare industry software development background
Education/Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology or equivalent; or a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in front-end/back-end development or equivalent
