Desired Skills & Experience

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with significant hands-on in vivo expertise and practical knowledge of murine tumour models to join our Oncology Research Team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential in vivo data for the development of new immune-oncology therapeutics for cancer patients.

You will be based at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Granta Park sites in Cambridge (UK).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will be predominantly laboratory-based and will spend the majority of time in the laboratories within the Oncology Research group, supporting projects aligned with one of AZ Oncology’s key focus areas, immuno-oncology. You will use your depth of knowledge of in vivo experimentation to carry out in vivo experiments to understand the effect of drugs in complex tumour model systems. Assigned work items will primarily involve in vivo experimentation allied to specific projects, studies and workstreams; but may also include other pharmacology related activities to support the in vivo function.  These may include more generalised collaborative efforts required to deliver in vivo support across the project portfolio.  The successful candidate will be expected to present findings at internal meetings and prepare precise technical reports, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintain appropriate documentation.  There will be a requirement to work flexibly, including some weekends.

You will be responsible for independent or collaborative delivery of predefined in vivo work items within an immuno-oncology focused research and development group operating a matrix management model.  In vivo work items will be defined by line-management, discipline or project leadership (agreed by line-management).  Quality and timeliness of delivery of in vivo work items will be monitored and actively managed by line-management.
