Job Description

Providing Leadership to the Team and also medical-scientific strategy of AstraZeneca’s highly progressive Lung oncology therapeutic areas, contributing to the late phase clinical development of assets and achieving defined medical/scientific objectives with a clear focus on patients.

 

Key Accountabilities will include:

 

  • Lead, build, organize and animate a medical oncology team of excellence to ensure the success of the Therapeutic Area portfolio, building and creating a culture of people development and fostering an adequate motivation and working atmosphere.
  • The successful candidate will be experienced, invested and passionate with a dedicated focus on ensuring that the teams is achieving its best possible potential within AstraZeneca.
  • Define, lead and implement comprehensive and innovative National and Regional Medical Plans for the Therapeutic Area portfolio  in alignment with Global Plans. Coordinate the Medical Plans, ensuring their impactful implementation. Design and validate objectives, plans and budgets of areas under responsibility.
  • With entrepreneurial leadership, ensure synergies within Oncology Medical Affairs regionally and optimise cross-functionality with the transverse teams: Marketing, Promotion, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Training.
  • Proactively seek out collaborative opportunities with the wider UK healthcare stekholders in line with our strategic priorities.
    • Ensures that all Therapeutic Area work-related activities comply with applicable external/ internal regulations in line with the ABPI Code of Practice, internal policies and standards.

 

 

Desired Skills & Experience

Essential Skills and Experience:

 

  • Education: Medical education (Medical Doctor preferably or Pharmacy).
  • Clinical and scientific experience related to Oncology.
  • Proven cross functional experience and collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Advocacy.
  • Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch-Management.
  • Experience in cooperation with clinical research and regulatory (national and international).
  • Experience in externally sponsored research and cooperation with study groups.
  • Track record of leadership across the medico-marketing interface.
  • Proven expertise in the ABPI Code of Practice.
  • It is mandatory for the performance of this role to hold or successfully acquire Nominated Signatory status.  You are required to gain Nominated Signatory status within 6 months of commencing your role.
  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with ethical products.

 

Desirable:

  • GMC or GPhC registration
  • Member / Fellow of a Royal College of Physicians / Surgeons / GPs or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Higher degree in Oncology (e.g. MSc and / or PhD).
  • Postgraduate degree in business or management development (e.g. MBA).
  • Therapeutic area knowledge.
  • Experience in all product lifecycle.
  • Previous experience in clinical practice.
  • ABPI Nominated Signatory.
